I Walk Alone

"I walk a lonely road,
The only one that I have ever known.
Don't know where it goes,
But it's home to me and I walk alone.

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams,
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone.

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me.
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating.
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me -
'Til then I walk alone.

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind ...
On the border line
Of the edge and where I walk alone.

Read between the lines -
What's f-d up and everything's alright.
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone.

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me.
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating.
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me -
'Til then I walk alone."
Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt

DAY 340:  One of the joys of music (particularly musical theatre), are those moments when the music or lyrics unexpectedly and completely reflect your mood and feelings at the time you're listening to it.  I recently ordered the Broadway Cast Recording of American Idiot, a "punk rock opera" featuring the music of the band Green Day.  I've been listening to it over the past couple of days and yesterday I came upon this song.  I'm grateful for such an expression of how I've been feeling recently, and it does help to hear those feelings expressed so beautifully in song.
